In October, we take time to learn about the Grandfather Teaching of Respect.
Respect is one of the Grandfather Teachings, and is represented by the buffalo. Respect is a special consideration of another person, place or thing. You honor creation by showing respect. Every part of creation deserves value and curteous consideration and appreciation. We do not harm others or ourselves.
"Being respectful should be considered a basic human right," says Elder Hazel Dixon. "Before you speak, let your words pass through three gates. Is it true? Is it necessary? Is it kind?"
